Underpaid and Overworked–
The backbone of Mumbai, without whom our day to day life will be a struggle..to make our ends meet. The people who can’t afford a sick leave, a casual one being out of question because a day of not working becomes a day of not eating. This collection is an attempt at capturing their life that revolves around cycles to be lugged along and baskets that serve for storage, delivery and the daily tea breaks. The life of a laborer, underpaid and overworked, is tough with minimal protection against harsh sunlight or blinding rains which they have to bear to be sure of their meal at night, which though incomplete will help them get through the next day. These paintings may remind you of that day to day sights in our peripheral visions that induce the very sympathy these self respecting individuals despise.
