About :

Arpa Mukhopadhyay is a contemporary emerging artist based in Pune, India. She is drawn to simplicity, love, equality and inner peace and most of her paintings are based on the same. All her artworks are centered on vivid memories and experiences that she has had at various junctures of her life. Though an engineer with a master in literature, Arpa slowly converted her lifelong passion for painting into her profession. One of the most promising new talents in the Indian art scene, Arpa is known for the versatile themes in her artistic oeuvre. Her interest ranges from the figurative Indian village women to the more challenging abstract and contemporary art forming her mind series. As a child, Arpa lived in a small Indian village, where she was awed by the life of the hard-working village women. Their simplicity, love, strength and beauty moved her so much that they remained her eternal muse. Another important work theme in her artistic journey is ‘Man and Nature’. Arpa firmly believes that human beings and nature can and should survive together in harmony, and her paintings in this series are representation of the same. Arpa’s most challenging, yet most personal artworks form her ‘Mind Series’, where different colors, shapes and forms come together, making each painting in the series, an interesting externalization of her artistic mind. In terms of medium, Arpa mostly paints and draws on surfaces such as paper, and canvas, using pencil, Acrylic or mixed media. She believes that art is the greatest therapy known to mankind and has been painting since the age of six. Her paintings can be found in private collections in India and abroad. Arpa’s work has also been a part of numerous art exhibitions and festivals the world over.
